"This year the annual Electroacoustic Music Festival at Meany Theater
features an exchange between the University of Washington's Center for
Advanced Research Technologies in the Arts and Humanities (CARTAH, Directed
by Richard Karpen) and UC Berkeley's Center for New Music and Audio
Technologies (CNMAT, directed by David Wessel).The once-a-year chance to
catch cutting-edge sound art via the excellent acoustics and sound system
at Meany."
The program includes Linda Antas's "Never Time for Not" for flute and
computer-realized sound; Tom Swafford's "String X-ing" for tape and violin;
Eric Marty's "AnTy" for tape; Ron Smith's "Meditations" for quad tape;
Edmond Campion's "SPELL" for tape; Bruce Bennett's "Three Etudes" for cello
and electronics; Michael Zbyszynski's "Sounds from the Broom Closet" for
tape; Bret Battey's "Writing on the Surface" for quadraphonic,
computer-realized sound; and Richard Karpen's "Sotto/Sopra" for
computer-processed violin.
