Canada Council Grants to Individual Musicians
Has Your Voice Been Heard?

H้l่ne Bellemare, Canada Council Music Officer in charge of Grants to
Individual Musicians (Classical, deadline: 1 April 1999) would like to meet
with new music composers and performers.

Grants to Individual Musicians (the erstwhile "B" grants) fund personal and
creative development projects for professional musicians-Emerging,
Mid-Career, and Established. Historically, new music performers and
emerging new music composers have been under-represented in the selection
of recipients of these grants. If you have never heard of this program, or
have applied for it and been rejected in the past, this meeting will give
you a chance to:

… find out why, and why you should apply again now
… pick up an application for the upcoming deadline (1 April 1999)
… receive guidance on choosing your project and developing and
strengthening your project description and budget
… find out how juries are selected and how the jurying process works
… ask about the eligibility of unique or unusual projects
… have a say in the future rate of success in this program for new music
composers and performers

Place: Music Gallery, Studio B (Flr. 3), 179 Richmond St. West, 204-1080

Time and Date: Friday, 26 Feb. 99, 6-8pm.

This is short notice, but it is a real chance to make the new music
community's questions, wishes, and needs known regarding this funding
program, which is potentially an excellent source of support for performers
and composers working primarily in new music. Please pass this information
along to any new music composer or performer you know, and post.
