Members vote to elect the Board of Directors and other matters as they arise. For example, right now there is an electro-clip competition and members will be voting for their favorite clips for inclusion at the national conference and possibly for inclusion on a CD. There is also an annual meeting at the national conference---the members vote on various matters at the conference as they arise as well.
I hope that this provides a bit of information for you to consider. Again, student members vote as well so as long as one is a student I would recommend joining as a student.

What kind of issues are voted upon?
I'm also considering joining up.
