George Carlin says that the glass is just too big...

I think that since it has become easy to produce sounds using a computer
there is much being produced at all levels of accomplishment. The computer
in the hands of a "true" composer is rendering works of art the likes of
which the world has never before seen. On the other hand there is much being
done that rehashes what has been done and explores nothing new or is born of
gimmick, novelty music. Since there are so many people involved with
computer music in one form or another, one has to really search to find the
(subjective) "good stuff".

I like to feel we are witnessing burgeoning of a phenomenal musical
revolution, one in which some amazing compositions are being, and many more
will be, produced. (From the Indiana Jones movie, Temple of Doom, where they
are getting ready to jump out of the plane, that was getting ready to crash
into a mountain, on an inflatable raft.) "Hang on lady, we are going for a
ride!"

Lack of imagination is the only barrier to our creation... Do not be
deterred by pessimism.
