Well, I have a feeling that without the funding, the Schaeffer
competition might not happen at all this year. So perhaps as with
anything, one must weigh the pro's and con's, think about what the
money how the submission money will be used (if known), and then also
look at perhaps what the competition has done in the past.

As far as I know, the Schaeffer competition has never asked for a fee
(although I could be wrong.) This leads me to believe that something
in their structure has changed, meaning that they need the money to
keep the competition going. As individuals (and perhaps someday as a
community) we might someday need to take a stand on supporting these
"stock" competitions if we feel that they're important to us as an
electroacoustic society.
