Hi Alistair,

Do you know Daniel Schachter's piece 'FlaX' for Flute and Computer (dans@cponline.org.ar)? Also, Jim Sain has a new piece for flute and live electronics (http://jamespaulsain.com).

I did give you a copy of my piece 'Flute Melt' in the end didn't I?

Best,

Rob

Subject: live electronics repertoire

Hi

I have a new course starting this session - live electronics performance & composition. These are conservatoire students - a couple of first study composers, the others first study instrument or voice.

For part of the course students will be expected to prepare an existing piece for public performance so I'm looking for pieces for solo instrument & tape/cd or solo instrument with live electronics (could be amplification, delay etc, SPX 900, Max/MSP). (The other part of the course involves students composing).

I'm accumulating as much material as I can but I'm particularly interested in pieces which are demanding in that they make the students think very carefully about the relationship between instrument and technology and about their sound (so not traditionally virtuosic repertoire).

I have one of each:
percussionist
cellist
french horn player
soprano voice
trumpet
flute
double bass

Any suggestions/recommendations? I'd love to hear what works other folks use in this (teaching) situation, and if anyone has anything suitable which they could send, or let me know where I can get hold of performing materials I'd be grateful.

(Suggestions for other instruments and combinations also welcome for teaching and future courses)

thanks

Alistair
