One of the problem (at least from my visual art experience) is that the the
"artist's statment" (in french we talk of "Artist's method") often requires a
description of the process (either conceptual or technical) of what you do as
an artist. In many fields, the originalty of the process (again conceptual or
technical) as gained lot of attention ... often more than the sensitive
results. Same thing in most visual department where students are working on
their "method" which will be their main characteristic. The thing that you put
in your grant request to make you look different, and unique. Even conceptual
artists (at least some?) then changes the methods to fit a particular meaning
or idea. Along with other art form like performance and installation (as for
example that I know), the results is often considered in relation with the
method although it is less a technical method (but more about a
thinking/creation process) in case of performance which is mainly devoted to
human actions and attitudes.

Is this good? or not?

And talking of creation process, does people here have extra-technical or
extra-musical ritual when creating, or preparing for, music?

Bye!
