Subject: A study in evaluation (and analysis?)

This is a class assignment for a third year undergraduate ea course.
They are to listen to the 10 top pieces from JTTP 2003 (as they
appear on Cache 2003 or in eContact!), write comments on each one,
possibly as an evaluation, evaluate them individually, and then rank
them from 1 to 10.
They are then asked to see whether you agree with the jury.
(If you want a more challenging version, listen to all 49
submissions, evaluate and rank them. See how many of the top 10 you
would have agreed with!)
The audio files (mp3) are here:
Program notes and the results of the contest are here:
You may want to do your own evaluations before you see what the jury decided!
The function of the assignment is to have each of the students become
the one who decides the fate of the works. It is not a 'neutral'
assignment, they must decide about the pieces and take decisions. The
decisions need to be explained / justified.
