since it works for some, as you yourself admit,
the method shouldn't be so simply dismissed. in
any case, the comment was rather flippant, the
rest of the message was the "real" comment. but
i stand behind my flippancy as well, because
there is some underlying truth to it. some
students require a harder method, to be
electroacousticised (or other) with a hammer, so
to speak, which unfortunately too few of the
teachers (in many subjects) i have come across
were capable of or willing to administer. but
that is a WHOLE other discussion, involving
administrative and student politics and other
mucky things... as is the difference between
educating and teaching...
