actually flac is huge with tapers, folks that record
'pop' concerts and trade these live tapings on the
web...by pop i mean bands such as cowboy junkies, big

freely...it was just a small step for this to be moved
over to the web and for people to start wanting a

and as to the compression ratio...it does seem to vary
and i'd need to actually look to see what's going
on...but the sound quality is much better then
anything else i've listened to...i used it to compress
my recent mcalpine releases and was happy with the
results...
