Um, sorry, but that's incorrect. I'm sitting in front of one now. By
connecting it via USB it shows up as a hard drive, similar to any CF
card reader. Are you thinking of the Hi-MDs? I just spent a week in
Newfoundland indiscriminately swapping the CF card between the R1 and
my camera, and not only was I able to swap back and forth without
incident, I was able to use the R1 as a card reader for the camera to
transfer pictures and movies to my computer. No software required.
There are other things I'm not crazy about, but it's easy as pie when
it comes to transferring files. This is my favorite thing about it.
