Thank you. I understand that the 'object' could (simply) be a brain
pattern that comes about through no external stimulus -- a
hallucination for example.

Having been with people experiencing psychotic and hallucinatory
experiences, the question that could be posed would be: "Is the
object the brain activity, and/or the perception-interpretation of
the brain activity."

I have aesthetic / artistic experiences in my dreams (both sleeping
and waking), and given your premise, wonder therefore where the
'object' is.
