True enough and early (and current) electroacoustic music consists of this, such as Oramics:
synchronised strips of 35mm film which covered a series of photo-electric cells that in turn generated an electrical charge to control the sound fequency, timbre, amplitude and duration. This technique was similar to the work of Yevgeny Sholpo's "Variophone" some years earlier in Leningrad..

Grainger believed that the outline of hills in cardboard in the free music machine would generate glissando pitch expressing of the spirit of pioneering, hillwalking and nudism. So the sonification of data from space radiation could be said to be its sound in this sense. The reference to nudism is not completely without connection to Australia's music machines, both the current Fairlight HQ and the Australian Naturist Lifestlye Party HQ are in Frenchs Forest, North Sydney.

 Every space has its resonance..
