I'm very happy to say that I've been trying out QuickTime 7's new
surround audio feature: FANTASTIC! Once you have your 6 tracks of audio
ready, all you have to do is turn them into MP3s or AACs (for internet,
you might forego AIFF or WAV).
For those of you who have QuickTime 7 and a surround setup connected to
your computer, here's a 3 1/2-minute excerpt from a work-in-progress ea
piece. You should hear the first 15 seconds on the Centre speaker,
after which all the speakers should kick in. Note that it's saved as a
.mov, not as a .mp3 or .aac:
Let me know if it works on your system. I'm a Mac user, but I'm curious
if this also works on a PC (it should).
