Following failure to recruit via the normal technical route, I really
hope there's someone lurking on this list for whom this would be a
genuine opportunity.

We have a EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Science Research Council)
PhD studentship and would like to recruit a highly computer-literate
music analyst. The proposed project is to use newly developed parsing
techniques for the automatic discovery of musical structures. EPSRC
studentships are relatively well paid, at around about GBP12k p.a.
See http://www.elec.gla.ac.uk/phd/content/application.html for
details.

As an interdisciplinary group, we are in a very good position to
provide training into the not inconsiderably complex software
technologies involved in this project. Our experience is that the
music analysis skills take longer to absorb, and to this end we would
like to find a Ph.D. candidate who is skilled in many forms music
analysis to graduate level. The ideal applicant would also be already
happy writing little programs (a "part-time computer geek"), and will
have a first or 2(i). Obviously such multidisciplinary expertise is
rare, as we have already established. So if you think you come close,
please apply!

The catch? you have to apply *now*. Don't wait, do it NOW. The
deadline for applications is Monday 6th, so email me *NOW*. Don't
make a coffee first!

If you change your mind, you can always withdraw the application...
