Instant Places
Performance Thursday, June 2, at 8 pm (free admission)

Instant Places is a series of audio/video environments created on site
using
software tools built with Max/MSP/Jitter. Audio samples and digital images
are
gathered in the vicinity of the exhibition venue. Using this material, an
enviroment for surround sound and projected video is created. The
performance
is influenced by the material gathered, the space, generative processes
built
into the audio and video programs, and gestural responses from the two
performers. More info at http://members.shaw.ca/kbduo/

Dinner, Talk and Performance
Talk with Heidi Grundmann, short performance by Ian Birse and Laura
Kavanaugh
Friday June 3, starting at 6 pm (free admission)

Heidi Grundmann visited the Western Front in April 2005 with the aim
of creating an on line (web) archive about the long and continuing
Wiencouver project a series of Telematic exchanges that have taken place
between the Western Front and Vienna since 1979. Wiencouver has
used the telephone, video phone, fax machines, Slow Scan Television,
computer timesharing networks, Internet streaming and radio to connect
artists
at distant points in a variety of projects. As one of the first on-going
projects of it's kind, the history of Wiencouver provides an interesting
background and context for future Telematic works. The Wiencouver on-line
documentation will be launched and presented at the talk.

Dinner starts around 6:30 pm
Heidi Grundmann Talk at 8 pm
Ian Birse and Laura Kavanaugh Performance at 9:30 pm
