Hi Raphaël,

With an good old RME Hammerfall DSP card with a Multiface box and an
Adat to analog converter (an Adat player can do this for instance), you
can reach 16 outputs easily.

For issues of compatibility with Max/MSP you should ask the question on
the specific mailing list too, you would probably receive more answers.
