please note: the addition of adrian moore's piece 'dreaming of the
dawn', in the saturday concert; that bill fontana will also present an
8-channel work on saturday evening and that the artists' response, in
the foyer, will run all weekend.

A weekend of new sounds from Birmingham and around the world featuring
special guests Bill Fontana, Denis Smalley and John Young.

Friday 11 March

19.30 Fanfare - sonic fireworks to start the weekend. The concert will
feature recent works by some of the current BEAST postgraduate

21.30 The Late Show - featuring drum-kit and live electronics. A 45
minute work by BEAST composer Pierre-Alexandre Tremblay.

 As part of the Honorary Visiting Research Fellowship with BEAST and US
artist Bill Fontana, a weekend Masterclass with sonic and
electroacoustic practitioners and composers was held in February
2005. The resulting works by some of the region’s most eminent and
emerging sound artists offer listeners with an acoustic trace of the
soundscape of Eastside.

 Sonic Mapping provides a focus and catalyst to a programme of
professional development concerning sound art and regeneration.

 Funded through the Arts Council England West Midlands and in
association with BEAST (Birmingham Electro Acoustic Sound Theatre),
Arts and Media Training, MADE (Midlands Architecture and the Designed
Environment), and Birmingham City Council's Eastside Regeneration
Project Management: MAAP

Saturday 12 March

18.00 Dialogues - Pieces by guest composers Denis Smalley and John
        • John Young - Tongue and Allting Runt Omkring
        • Dennis Smalley - Ringing Down the Sun and Resounding

20.00 Soundings - an international programme of acousmatic music, to
include a further piece each by Denis Smalley and John Young, plus
works by Edson Zampronha, Bill Fontana, Adrian Moore and James Bentley.

Sunday 13 March

14.00-16.00 Open Workshop on multi-channel sound - with Denis Smalley
and John Young
16.00-17.00 Bill Fontana presents research from his Eastside 'sound
