Dear Sandra,

For a year or two I had an M-Audio Quattro Pro, which worked quite
well. It's a 4-in 4-out external box (USB 1.1 or higher) with MIDI
ports. I think its list price was around $380 - I sold mine a year
ago for $300 (I think) - if you look hard you may be able to find it
within your price range. I sold mine only because I need to upgrade
to something with phantom power and headphone amps onboard (for
travel reasons... I went with the M-Audio Firewire 410 which has also
served well.)
