Musicworks has received the Utne Independent Press Award for best
Arts/Literary Coverage, as announced in the January-February issue of Utne
Magazine. The Utne Independent Press Awards recognize excellence in
alternative and independent magazines. Utne, a leading American
publication, providing a digest of the alternative media, publishes extracts
from articles reflecting innovative and provocative thinking on the critical
issues of our time. About the winners, the Utne editors write, "Some [award
winners] are perennial favorites; others are new finds. All are brimming
with the creative energy and freedom of thought that make them this year¹s

Musicworks is honoured to receive this prestigious recognition and wishes to
congratulate all the other winning magazines. Other Canadian titles which

Musicworks stands committed to new and challenging forms of music and to
the excitement of creative engagement in sound exploration. We feature
