She has little experience in electroacoustic music techniques but wishes to
record live acoustic singing and add sounds from a synthesizer, changing music
patches or getting the patches from the computer itself.
I use Digital Performer with a Motu XT.
Are they comparable with Logic? Does anyone know anything about Logic
Express, what you can do with it compared to DP or Pro Tools.

Cannot tell the difference. As the description says that it is a step above
Garageband, I expect it is not as good as your program.
