A DC offset filter is equivalent to a low cut filter set to around 20Hz. Or
less. So many EQ plug-ins will give you DC removal without doing too much
damage to the sound.
Cool Edit is great. If you're quick you may still be able to find copies on
the shareware libraries, although I'm not sure what the situation is with
it now that it's been bought by Adobe.
