I have a Panasonic NV-GS 120 - I think it is still the cheapest 3 CCD
camcorder you can buy (mine was a shade over £500). It is easy to operate
and quality seems good. Major disadvantages - only 10x normal zoom, but you
can always use a close up filter on the front for those intimate moments, no
input for external video - so you can't attach spy cameras to it, the next
more expensive model in the range does have this facility. Manual focusing
can also be a bit fiddly, but the more expensive model has a focus ring, so
is probably less fiddly. The only really irritating thing is the framing,
as the camera films a slightly wider area that it actually shows on the
viewer / view finder, so carefully composing to keep something just out of
shot needs to take this into account.

Hope this helps
