i believe that in my Goldsmiths grad student days we had plans to rig up
a very strange set of DSP chips to the fire alarms, burglar alarms and
the college drinks machine.... well, it talked to us and drove us crazy
so we wanted to hack it.

pity i'm in another country now, i could have come to their rescue - an
old friend of mine works for Imperial College and is asked to design the
odd chip himself for work....
