I don't read them to say that the music is hierarchically organized
(although I used to, and read Salzer (? - Structural Hearing) the
same way. Over the years I've moved away somewhat from thinking that
the structure is embedded in the piece, rather that it is embedded in
the head of (some??) listeners.
