At the moment? Music has always been, and always will be like that.
There are exceptions, but these individuals are few and far between.
It's impossible to come out with something totally new without building
on something else. Hell, even Einstein's theory of relativity seems to
have evolved into existence quite logically. Humans are simply not
usually capable of huge jumps... although that doesn't mean we
shouldn't try.
