Restless, tragi-comic beings interact with turbulent environments and
uncertain destinations in this programme of short film and video. With
references to popular culture, myth, nature and geopolitics, the programme
reflects Dave's interest in the notion of 'landscape film', and its
relationship with post-human concepts and concerns. International in scope,
the works typify some contemporary methods in moving-image practice: filmic
constructs, animation, found-footage remix, digital processing, and
painterly approaches to framing and materials.
This edition of Pure*screen was selected in response to 'The Goose Fair'
exhibition by Jacob Cartwright and Nick Jordan at Castlefield Gallery, 9
April to 16 May.
