I'd like to thank Matt and Derek for providing those links, much more info than I was about to provide, and Doug for posing the initial query.

I have known about those things for about five years now, since my sister in England sent me the original booklet "Mirrors by the Sea," by Richard Scarth, which has since been expanded to become "Echoes From the Sky" (same author). I would highly recommend that one Doug. It has loads of information about the sound mirrors, as well as the infrastructure behind them.

On a trip to England last year, I tried to get to see them, but time did not permit. Did manage to get a ride on the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, though, and made a recording of its entire 13 1/2 mile length. This is a narrow-gauge (15 inch) railway running from Hythe to Dungeness which was once used for access to some of the mirror sites. Well worth the journey if you're in the area.
