Nearly Full House

To make the Sudoku Grids look right, make these two settings if they exist:

  • View/TextSize =
    Medium or Normal

  • View/Zoom =
    100% or Reset

Or read Viewing This Site.

Nearly Full House

External synonym:  last digit.

When any House has only one empty Cell left, it's obvious what BigNum goes in that Cell:  so put it in.

Example:

Nearly Full House:
two examples.

In the Column shown, the only digit missing is a 7. So we will place a 7 in that Column's empty Cell.

And in the Block shown, the only digit missing is a 4. So we will put a 4 in the Block's empty Cell.

This Tactic is so obvious that you would think you'd never forget to take advantage of it. But in the heat of the battle, you really can overlook this situation, so it's a good idea to look the Grid over from time to time to see if there's a Nearly Full House just sitting there.
