Hi,
A portable hard-drive and small USB key would be very practical
Start saving for good monitors right now and start thinking about your workspace
at home (minimal acoustic treatment)
I think Logic is everything but a sound editing program, you can get one for
free at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
Browse through the CEC website
I found that buying a microphone was useful when all studios were unavailable
On a more Sound Recording level:
Mastering Audio: The Art and the Science
by Bob Katz
Get familiar with ProTools
One student recomended to subscribe to an audio periodical such as Sound On
Sound.
And last but not least, if you play an instrument, read as much as you can about
it.
thats me!
