Hello,
To be honest, $120 is pretty low if you want anything decent for a new
guitar. You could pay that now and all you'd be getting is a guitar made in
china with cheap laminate wood that has poor playability(which then you'd
have to spend more money to set it up to make it playable). If you want
anything decent, I think your best bet is to look on Ebay for lesser known
companies who were offshoots of Sears back in the 60s like Harmony, Kay, and
Stella. It's somewhat tough to find one with a decent neck(warping is a big
problem with those guitars), but if you do find one, what you're getting is
a handmade vintage guitar made of all solid wood in the US, Brazilian
rosewood fingerboard, bone nut, etc, for a very cheap price when something
like that would cost you in the thousands new today. I have thousands of
dollars in equipment, but one of the shining stars of my whole collection is
my '72 Harmony H162, sounds incredible.
