Matthew Adie

I thought I’d put a brief bio of myself here since I work at Concordia, and they have provided me the space.

Systems Consultant

My current position at Concordia is that of "Systems Consultant" for the Office of Research. I’m not exactly sure what a "Systems Consultant" is, but so far it’s been an "all purpose Joe" type position. However, my main responsibilities appear to be fulfilling data requests, ensuring data validity, and designing tools for meeting data requests. I also maintain our department’s server, maintain our department’s website, and support our department’s desktops.

Past Experience

In the past I have built and maintained collocated servers running FreeBSD, built maintained a variety of servers running Linux, built and maintained firewall's running either OpenBSD or Linux, and built and maintained fileservers running Windows NT or more recently 2003. I have also wired and maintained several small networks, and I worked as a Web Developer off and on since 1996.

Computers and Such

My favorite OS is Linux (although I used to prefer FreeBSD as a server system), my favorite shell is Bash, my favorite Desktop Environment is KDE, and my favorite scripting languages are Perl and PHP.
