In a kind of follow-up to the thread on the sound for lord of the rings,
I recently watched an episode of a sci-fi program called farscape
(episode 1:17 'through the looking glass').
A great lesson in sound for film: compression, ea leitmotifs, and
a healthy dose of what sounded like GRM plugs. Well worth viewing
from a point of veiw of technique.
I am not sure how much was shared between composer and
sound design (post production) team but the ea and the underlying
(for it was very much underlying) midi/orchestral sounds were
some of the best I've heard.
[ok so I know it's sci-fi....]
Adrian.
