Dear Katharine,
I am sorry not to have followed this discussion but I must respond to your
comments here both as an individual within Sonic Art communities and as
a board member of Sonic Arts Network.

I am not sure that there should (ever could) be a single Sonic Art community.
Diversity can lead to redundancy and exclusion but it can also engage
creativity which is what should underlie all sonic art.

ouch!
In no way is Sonic Arts Network exclusive. I wouldn't even be a
member, let alone
a board member if I thought Sonic Arts Network had an exclusive
agenda. And I was
a member for many years before becoming a board member.
Equality of opportunity can however only go so far least you spend
all your time trying
to embrace everybody and end up 'doing' nothing. Networking is a two way
process so (wrongly or rightly) if there is a perceived imbalance, let those
who want to rectify it make themselves known.

Sorry to hammer on but
http://www.sonicartsnetwork.org/events%20archive/eventshybrids.html
was one of the most successful events SAN produced last year and nobody once
mentioned what 'kind' of art was taking place. And there was more
supercollision going
on than I have seen anywhere - led by the team from Middlesex.

What can I say. This is simply not true.
The current SAN board includes a Middlesex employee I believe.
I do hope that you can attend the Sonic Arts Network Annual General Meeting
on Saturday at 2pm at the Jerwood Space to raise your concerns to the newly
elected board.
btw.
I do sincerely believe this, and am not just trying to drum up more
votes despite the
above sounding a bit party political. (Hell, I need all the votes I
can get on Saturday!!)
Best wishes
Adrian.
