Ralph.

The Canadian Music Centre has a good listing of Concert Notices and Composer
opportunities, etc. on its Bulletin Board. Go to www.musiccentre.ca and
click on "Bulletin Board". You'll need to register but that just takes a
few moments. Please feel fre to post notices as well as reaad them.

Good luck with your show!

Announcing

Acoustic Frontiers - a new radio program featuring electroacoustic music airs on CKCU-FM, 93.1, Radio Carleton, Ottawa and on the Internet.

Having been off-air for a few years, I am pleased to announce that I will be returning to radio January 14, 2002 to produce and host a program called “Acoustic Frontiers”. The program will air from Ottawa, Ontario, on CKCU-FM, 93.1 each Monday morning from 10am to noon (eastern standard time). As with all CKCU programs, it can also be accessed on the Internet from the station web site: WWW.CKCUFM.COM.

My intent is to air electroacoustic music primarily but not exclusively. In addition to ea and computer music, there will be instrumental new music works.

Additionally, I will be announcing new CDs, concerts, competitions, courses and anything else of interest within the genre. I also hope to air music from composer websites, with appropriate permission. In this regard, I would very much appreciate being advised about all the above. I can be reached at my personal email address: ralphhopper@rogers.com or through the radio station web site and email. I will also be browsing this and other news groups for news and information.

I also need help from composers and record companies. While I have a good supply of CDs in my personal library, the station has very few CDs suitable for my purposes (in particular – electroacoustic). To those composers who can, and those individuals from record distribution companies reading this, please ensure that CDs are sent to the station. I would very much appreciate a “catch-up” of previously issued CDs as well as future issues. The address is available from the station web site or I can provide details if you contact me directly. If you mark CDs to my attention, I will be more certain to know what has arrived at the station. I would add that other programmers also tend to look for this type of material to air and so your music has a very good chance of airtime.

Brief history of CKCU: On November 14, 1975, Canadian radio history was made when CKCU became the first campus-based community radio station in the country. CKCU is licensed by the CRTC as a community-based campus radio station. This is a uniquely Canadian model which means that we are an integral part of the Carleton University community, but also serve many other groups within our broadcast range (about 100km).

I am excited to once again be presenting music that I believe should have more airtime. My thanks to all those providing information and assistance with this program now and in the future.
