I have to concur here. It's a different issue if you're just making a
reference copy to listen to or if you're making a PMCD. I've looked at
numbers for BLERs (block error rates) on various blank media being burned
with different burners at various speeds. 2x and 4x burns clearly have the
lowest BLERs last time I checked (and it does matter what media you use
with which burner). 1x seemed to have the highest BLERs while speeds above
4x had increased BLERs as well. Replicators will reject discs whose burst
BLER and/or average BLER are too high. I can't off hand remember the
address of the site, but I think Bob Starrett put the data together and was
updating when he had new data.
