Dear listeners and risk takers,

I would like to take this moment to present a
short review of the
'al2beta9'. That is; the' Argėiphontes Lyre public
beta release version 9',
available for download at <<www.akirarabelais.com>>.

For those of you who don't know ; it is an
advanced dsp application (
roughly along the same lines as 'soundhack') with
some highly useful
artistic , literary and live performance features
encoded into it.

I was particularly impressed by some of the new
video capabilities ( if
you don't believe me you can check out some stills
produced from the
sonograms at my website
<<www.home.earthlink.net/~billjarboe>> and the
'lobster quadrille' , which let's one combine
soundfiles rythmically live.

It isn't a complete miracle ( for instance , it
hasn't found me an
affordable apartment or reconciled me with my
dark-eyed lady friend) and it
takes quite a bit of imagination and drive to
produce any viable product.

( there isn't much in the way of an instruction
book , and some of the
programs take quite a bit of research in order to
know what to do with them)
however, comparing the capabilities and price with
say 'grm tools' really
gives one a different perspective on what's
valuable on the face of the
earth.

As always , it takes ideas , desire and
willpower to produce great music.
Yet as a tool , the 'al2beta9' has what it takes
to catapult me , you and
your next door neighbor's neurotic little dog into
previously unimaginable
realms of mega-stardom.

If you have a macintosh , or even know anyone
with a macintosh, I'd
recommend trying it out. Better yet,if you live in
the L.A. area, buy the
author a pizza(probably sausage and lots of cheese).

                            Bill
