Hmmm the proposal was for "identical" bells. There are two aspects here,
one being the physiological limits of separation (and I have some
difficulty considering bells as pulsed tones), which is addressed above,
but the other one relates to segregation and streaming. Refer to
'auditory illusions' for further info on the impact of streaming.

I selected a free-field condition for the first part of this examination
since it will not be necessary to deal with other than one wavefront.

Would it be possible (outside of ideal ambisonic conditions) to duplicate
this in a hall with say 1.5 sec (mid-frequency) reverb time?
