Assistant Professor of Music (Electronic and Computer Music) and
Assistant Director, Center for Electronic and Computer Music

Tenure-Track Position

Appointment Effective Beginning August 2007

      Responsibilities The responsibilities in this full-time
position will be divided between teaching and administration: (1)
teach courses and supervise laboratory sessions in the Center for
Electronic and Computer Music (CECM), and assist the Centeršs
director with other courses; (2) serve as assistant director of the
Center; assist the director with installing and maintaining computer
music software and hardware, maintaining the Centeršs website,
developing course materials, researching and purchasing equipment and
software, and participating in the general operation of the Center.
Maintain an active career as a composer of electronic works with
national performances and recordings. Participation in departmental
committees, doctoral advisory committees, and other departmental
activities, as well as service on Jacobs School committees, is
expected.

         Qualifications Doctorate in composition or computer
music. Experience working in all facets of electronic music,
including analog and digital synthesis, sampling, Csound, MAX/MSP,
MIDI sequencing, digital recording/editing, multimedia, electronic
music history and literature. Previous experience maintaining an
electronic music studio including Mac music software and hardware,
Mac os servers and high-end analog and digital audio systems.
Knowledge of programming languages, shell scripts, UNIX/Linux
preferred. Some web authoring and networking experience desirable.
Specific teaching experience with MOTU Digital Performer and
Digidesign Pro Tools also preferred.

   Salary and Rank Assistant Professor, tenure track; salary
commensurate with qualifications and experience.
