I was also surprised to see this comment earlier today. I have the
250gb "porche" design:

no problems as of yet (also reaching for grain). However, I don't
use it as an audio scratch disk -- I use it only for daily backup.
It's a very inexpensive drive, it is very quiet, and to date been
very reliable. I've used LaCie on and off for years fro SCSI to
firewire and I've never had a problem (reaching again).
