Dear Kevin;
You are right. There have not been any attempts to translate Traité des Objets Musicaux.
As far as I know, John Dack and Christine North translated Schaeffer's A la recherche d'une musique concrète and they also translated Michel Chion's Guide Des Objets Sonores: Pierre Schaeffer et la recherche musicale, which is, as it name implies, a kind of guide book for Traité des Objets Musicaux.
I must say, it is extremely useful to understand the foundations of Schaefferian theory.
You can download Chion from EARS web site:

Greetings CeCers,
Am I right to say that much of Pierre Schaeffer's major writings have yet to be published in English?
For example I do not see a translation of Traité des Objets Musicaux (Éditions du Seuil 1966) or La Musique Concrète (Presses Universitaires de France 1967). Can this be?
The Solfege De L'objet Sonore (pub. Fr. 1967) has been translated I believe (isn't the English included in the box CD set? I seem to remember that am I correct? I don't have mine handy), but I don't see anywhere that the Traité des objets musicaux has been rendered in English. Or am I (as usual) looking in the wrong places?
I know, I know, learn French.
best,
Kevin
