Darren Copeland composed a heartbreaking piece called "They're trying to save themselves", which uses sections of communications from New York City on 9/11/01 at the World Trade Center. The piece can be found on his Empreinte Digitales DVD "Perdu et Retrouve".

I doubt it would be consoling, but since you asked...

    Look up at night..can you see the constellation Eridani? [it is between Orion and Canis Majoris [when Orion is at the top].
    Epsilon eridani has 2 planets, and at 10 light years is the closest to our system...
