Thank you to everyone for suggestions. The external AD/DA is a Prism
Sound Orpheus and it just started working fine last night, not sure
what I did. I have my external on USB 2 at the moment which is fine
for what I am doing. When the firewire didn't work I went online and
found lots of complaints with people reverting to Leopard - so assumed
the worst... I will try out different combinations over the weekend
and report back on Monday so at least if there are problems with
certain hardware, or combinations thereof people will know.
