Hi Peiman,
I had do a similar thing not so long ago. I suspect it depends on your
model, but I have 4 genelec 1029a monitors. The Yamaha HS50 monitors are
similar spec on paper (but not as detailed in the mid range) in terms of
frequency response. You can also roll off the bottom end which is
similar to the 1029a units so you can add a genelec sub. The HS50s are
fairly cheap and I use them for the rear pair.
Best
Dale.

Subject: cheap active studio monitors
Dear all,
I currently have 4 Genelecs. I would like to add a pair of monitors to
be able to work on a 6 channel piece at home.
My budget is rather limited (certainly cannot afford another pair of
genelecs). I will not be relying on this setup only and will audition
the work at university on a regular basis so it does not matter if the
extra pair is not amazing (not ideal of course).
Any suggestions about active monitors on the [very] cheap side?
And now that we are at it, I need to conjure up 4 speaker stands too, is
there a way to improvise this or is it better to buy the real things?
Thanks in advance.
Peiman
