The idea of creating the acoustical space could be expanded into becoming a dynamic aspect of the reverb. Create a bathroom-size reverb where the walls fly away from each other, only to be replaced by a similar bathroom-sized space ... something like the photorealistic paintings of Richard Estes
etc
Acoustical spaces that have to extracted from the sonic field. The images "work" on many levels, among them being the painters ability to (re) create multiple spaces at the same time.
When I watch films that present multiple spaces at the same time, I would like to hear multiple acoustical spaces -- layers and layers of them, to dig through and find hidden paths.
Estes pointed out that his paintings were not done by 'painting over' slides projected onto the canvas. He introduces impossible perspectives and reflections. Perhaps the 'new reverbs' (and spatial definitions) could do the same.
