Perhaps, but art today is as complicated as banking, which means that
whoever you are there's probably a fairly
risk-free but not necessarily high-return plan you can follow. The
easiest plan is just to know your peer panel.

Does anyone understand art? Maybe to understand art is to grasp
potentiality, which would suggest that anyone who does can
reach into a new realm, which may also be reachable by not
understanding art.
