I've recorded similar sounds in freshwater in central victoria
(australia), a long way from the sea - a freshwater lake, and even in
the water in a fountain that had been turned off. No shrimp there. I
assumed it was some sort of small living creature
(insect/invertebrate), but it has been suggested to me it may be the
sound of bubbles collapsing on the surface of the microphone.
