Subject: Two Assistantships Available
Two Graduate Teaching Assistantships are available for the 2008-2009
academic year at The University of Texas Electronic Music Studios.
1) Assistant Instructor (AI)
Requirements:
- Enrollment in the DMA composition degree program at U. Texas
- Thorough knowledge of both analog and digital synthesis,
processing, recording, and editing techniques
- Experience with MIDI synthesizers, samplers, and effects processors
- Familiarity with Protools, Cubase and/or Logic and/or
comparable systems/software
- Previous classroom teaching experience not essential, but
highly desirable
Duties:
- Teach two sections/semester of Introduction to Electronic Media
- Assist with Electro-Acoustic Recital Series (EARS) concerts
- Assist with routine hardware/software maintenance at UTEMS
Details:
- Full-time (20 hr/week) position
- Full tuition waiver (9 hrs/semester)
- $10,500 Stipend plus benefits
2) Facilities Coordinator (TA)
Requirements:
- Enrollment in either MM or DMA composition degree program at U. Texas
- Experience with Macintosh systems administration and studio maintenance
- Experience with MIDI synthesizers, samplers, and effects processors
- Familiarity with Protools, Cubase and/or Logic and/or
comparable systems/software
- Experience with web design and site maintenance a plus
Duties:
- Mac Systems Administrator (8-10 G4, G5, and Intel cpus)
- UTEMS Web Master (if qualified)
- Oversee maintenance, repairs, and documentation for UTEMS
- Production Manager of Electro-Acoustic Recital Series (EARS) concerts
- Individual tutoring of intermediate-level students

- $10,000 Stipend plus benefits
