I'm using transformers from this UK company to run my US gear here in the UK
-- 500va and 1000va versions. But these aren't the type of thing you carry
around in your luggage:

Just as a warning, hooking some US multiple-outlet power strips to my
transformer causes my flat mains breaker to blow. Two of my three power
strips do this; why the third works and the others don't I have never taken
the time to find out. And it isn't just my flat wiring; the same thing
happened at a theatre here in Leicester using my stepdown transformer and a
visiting artist's US power strip.
