hi Xenia and all

Philip Mead is at meadpj@hotmail.com - the email address at his web page
may be different and wasn't (last time I used it) reaching him. He's
been working with maxmsp and piano recently, and has commissioned a
whole bunch of pieces over the years - he is a force for pianistic good!

His commissions include my 'Trying to translate', which he originally
did with Steve Montague doing the electronics (it dates from 1991) - but
a couple of years ago another pianist, Shiau-uen Ding, asked for a
maxmsp version, so if you're interested I have it around somewhere (the
patch can be operated by the pianist using a trigger, or by someone else
- it's not very grand...). Just email me. You can listen to it at
http://www.sonus.ca/app/ui/more.php?Language=en&MediaID=1536 and there's
more info at my web page (www.novamara.com - go to the catalogue).

Shiau-en may know other pieces - she was at the conservatory at
University of Cincinnati (as a doctoral student) and also did her
dissertation on this area (Shiau-uen DING <ssding@yahoo.com>). Another
pianist who did my piece and probably knows others is Todd Welbourne,
<tgwelbou@wisc.edu>, at the university of Wisconsin).

I'd be interested to know what other pieces you come across - pieces I
know (and admire) that Philip and others have done have been mostly
'tape'/fixed rather than live,

all best,

Katharine
